CANCER METABOLISM

Joan J. Guinovart (IRB Barcelona) and Dario Alessi (University of Dundee, UK)
Barcelona, Spain. 8-10 NOVEMBER, 2010

This conference brings together some of the key experts in the new and fascinating field of cancer metabolism. Topics of discussion will include:

  1. How do cancer cells reprogram their metabolism to power their persistent growth, often under unfavorable conditions?
  2. How are changes in cancer cell metabolism coordinated with the activation of oncogenic mechanisms that drive proliferation?
  3. Can the disruption of certain metabolic pathways be exploited therapeutically to develop new treatments for cancer?

The number of participants of Barcelona BioMed conferences is kept to a minimum to facilitate ample discussion and interactions in a relaxing environment. We hope this meeting will inspire participants research in this exciting new area.

Organised by IRB Barcelona with the collaboration of the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Foundation (fBBVA).

Hosted by the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC).
