METASTASIS GENES AND FUNCTIONS

BARCELONA, Spain. 19-21 MAYO, 2008

Metastasis has been recognized as a major medical, social and scientific problem for centuries, yet little progress has been made in identifying its genetic determinants, molecular mechanisms, and specific treatments. Recent conceptual and technological advances are providing an unprecedented opportunity to address this problem. This conference will bring together laboratory and clinical experts who are focusing on metastasis in major human malignancies and animal models, at the level of its component processes including cancer stem cells, tumor angiogenesis, bone marrow-derived progenitors, cell motility, invasion and adhesion, tumor-microenvironment interactions, and metastasis response to therapy. The purpose of this conference is to leverage this combined expertise in order to advance our understanding of cancer metastasis.

Organised by IRB Barcelona with the collaboration of the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Foundation (fBBVA).

Hosted by the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC).
