IRB Barcelona is a self-standing, non-profit institution devoted to basic and applied biomedical research. It was set up in 2005 jointly by the Government of Catalonia and the University of Barcelona and is located at the Barcelona Science Park. The institute currently has more than 430 members (scientific, technical and administrative staff) from all over the world, who work across disciplines to advance research in the biomedical sciences.

IRB Barcelona seeks a motivated Laboratory Technician for the Molecular Modeling and Bioinformatics Group directed by Prof. Modesto Orozco of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), the employment contract will be financed by the project projecte “Incentius a l'Avaluació de Centres CERCA (in_CERCA)”.

Duties: 

The successful candidate will provide technical support in:

 

  -Encapsulation of therapeutic oligonucleotides with nanoparticles and new formulations.

 

  -Monitoring cell entry by confocal microscopy.

 

  -Evaluation of gene knock-down by Western Blot and RT-qPCR.

 

Profile: 

Must Have – Required

 

  • Experience: Encapsulation of drugs, fluorescence/confocal microscopy, cell culture.

 

  • Knowledge: BSc degree in Biotechnology.

 

  • Skills: Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English; Good organizational and communication skills.
