IRB Barcelona is a self-standing, non-profit institution devoted to basic and applied biomedical research. It was set up in 2005 jointly by the Government of Catalonia and the University of Barcelona and is located at the Barcelona Science Park. The institute currently has more than 430 members (scientific, technical and administrative staff) from all over the world, who work across disciplines to advance research in the biomedical sciences.

IRB Barcelona is seeking a Postdoctoral researcher to work at the Cellular Plasticity and Disease Laboratory directed by Dr. Manuel Serrano.


The candidate will work on the project “Desarrollo preclínico de un nuevo activo modulador de la fibrosis y la senescencia para el tratamiento de la enfermedad de hígado graso no-alcohólico” (HEPATOSEN), funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities – Spanish Research State Agency, with reference number RTC2019- 007125-1.

  • Conduct independent research in the area of fibrotic diseases and senescence


  • Supervise PhD students and technicians


  • Manuscript and grant writing

Must Have – Required


  • Doctoral degree. Experience in a competitive research environment is a must.


  • Extensive experience in fibrotic diseases, cellular senescence, and iron metabolism.


  • A strong background in the areas of inflammation and immunology will be valued.


  • Past experience in competitive laboratories will be valued


  • English (fluent).
