IRB Barcelona is a self-standing, non-profit institution devoted to basic and applied biomedical research. It was set up in 2005 jointly by the Government of Catalonia and the University of Barcelona and is located at the Barcelona Science Park. The institute currently has more than 430 members (scientific, technical and administrative staff) from all over the world, who work across disciplines to advance research in the biomedical sciences.

IRB Barcelona is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Cell Signaling group led by Drs. Francesc Posas and Eulàlia de Nadal.

This project is funded by the AECC (Asociación Española Contra el Cancer).

The successful applicant will join a team of international researchers. He/she will work in an exciting, interactive challenging and equal opportunity team-working environment in a modern research institute, with cutting edge research infrastructures and core facilities

Duties: 
  • Study the regulation of the Retinoblastoma (RB) as a new therapeutic strategy for the treatment of breast cancer.

 

  • Address at a molecular level how a specific RB mutant can override CDK activity in normal and breast tumor cells and mouse models (Gubern et al. “The N-terminal phosphorylation of RB by p38 bypasses its inactivation by CDKs and prevents proliferation in cancer cells” Mol Cell. 2016 64: 25-36).
Profile: 

Must Have – Required

  • Experience:
    • Strong experience in Cell and Molecular Biology techniques
    • Mice handling

 

  • Knowledge: PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences or similar
  • Skills:
    • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English
    • Ability to work independently
    • Highly motivated, ambitious and collaborative person

Desirable

  • Experience: Molecular Oncology studies and Cancer mouse models
  • Skills:
    • Good publication track record
    • Potential to guide PhD students in their research
