IRB Barcelona is a self-standing, non-profit institution devoted to basic and applied biomedical research. It was set up in 2005 jointly by the Government of Catalonia and the University of Barcelona and is located at the Barcelona Science Park. The institute currently has more than 430 members (scientific, technical and administrative staff) from all over the world, who work across disciplines to advance research in the biomedical sciences.

IRB Barcelona is seeking a Research Assistant for the Design, Synthesis and Structure of Peptides and Proteins Group (Principal Investigator Prof. Ernest Giralt). The contract will be financed by the project: “2018 PROD 00117”, ‘Generalitat de Catalunya’ and ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) for Catalonia.

Duties: 
  • The successful candidate will work in the chemical synthesis and purification of complex bioactive peptide compounds and their decoration using specific conjugation methodologies. In this case, the research will be focus in the field of peptides and drug conjugates. Chemical synthesis of peptide shuttles and purification.

 

  • Candidates should be highly motivated, enthusiastic about science, with an ability to think creatively and work independently. Previous experience in solid-phase peptide synthesis, purification and characterization will be positively evaluated.
Profile: 

Must Have – Required

 

  • Experience: Previous experience in advanced peptide synthesis and purification methodologies in research environments

 

  • Knowledge: Higher Technical Certificate in Laboratory analysis and control (GS)

 

  • Skills: Good organizational and communication skills. Interest in multi-disciplinary research. Ability to work independently. Fluency in English.

 

Desirable

 

  • Experience: More than 4 years in automated peptide synthesis.
