IRB Barcelona is a self-standing, non-profit institution devoted to basic and applied biomedical research. It was set up in 2005 jointly by the Government of Catalonia and the University of Barcelona and is located at the Barcelona Science Park. The institute currently has more than 430 members (scientific, technical and administrative staff) from all over the world, who work across disciplines to advance research in the biomedical sciences.

IRB Barcelona is seeking a Research Assistant for a 7 months position to join the Signalling and Cell Cycle Laboratory led by Dr. Angel R. Nebreda.


The candidate will work on the regulation and function of stress kinase pathways. The contract will be funded by the Call of ‘Indústria de Coneixement 2019’ form the Universities and Research of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya, with reference 2019PROD00138 and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union, within the framework of the ERDF Operational Program for Catalonia 2014-2020. Investment goal in growth and employment.

  • Perform experiments with mammalian cell lines and primary cells in culture
  • Purification and characterization of recombinant proteins. Kinase and protein binding assays.


  • Maintenance and organization of the laboratory, preparation of stock solutions, etc.

Must Have – Required


  • Degree in biological sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with mammalian cell cultures and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience in the purification and characterization of recombinant proteins.
  • Ability to work independently in a demanding research environment.
  •   Excellent organisational and communication skills, and with good knowledge of English.
