IRB Barcelona is seeking a Research Officer with proven skills in Drug Screening and committed to the challenge of providing excellent service to support chemical biology and drug discovery activities in an international research environment.

 

The successful candidate will report to the Drug Screening Platform Coordinator and will be expected to execute assay development, High Throughput Screening (HTS) campaigns and assays supporting H2L and LO campaigns. He/She will interpret screening data under the supervision of the Drug Screening Platform Coordinator.

Duties: 
  • Carry out of assay development for both biochemical and cellular assays.
  • Undertake HTSs and secondary hit profiling assays.
  • Carry out assays to support H2L and LO campaigns.
  • Prepare experimental plans within scope of defined/new projects.
  • Analyse data, providing conclusions and technical insight.
  • Undertake compound management.
  • Participate in the use and programming of screening equipment (readers, pipettors, automated platform, etc.).
  • Attend courses, meetings and undertake any required formal training to improve their scientific capabilities. Maintain a broad and up to date level of scientific awareness in all aspects of the screening discipline.
Profile: 

Must Have – Required

 

  • Experience:

 

  • More than 3 years in drug discovery in pharma/biotech/academic research.
  • Proficiency in assay development, HTS and compound profiling for both biochemical and cellular assays.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of targets (enzymes, PPIs, GPCRs, etc.) and technologies (Alpha, HTRF, luminescence, etc.).
  • HTS data generation, data interpretation and data reporting.

 

  • Knowledge: on drug discovery processes, screening equipment and technologies and a wide range of protein targets and how to address assay development for each one.

  • Design of HTS workflows to nominate actives as hits
