This activity aims to help students to improve their public presentations in English. The course introduces some basic concepts underlying the oral communication of their work and gives participants the opportunity to put theory into practice in a relaxed open discussion and feedback session.

Speakers

Brian McCarthy
For seven years Brian has been running workshops and coaching people from the fields of science, academia and business make presentations on a wide range of issues. He has worked as a communications consultant for the Esteve Foundation, IRB, Telefonica, UOC, UAB. He also works as a medical writer for ThomsonReuters and has translated and edited dozens of academic articles in the fields of science and the humanitites. Before coming to live in Spain in 2005, he was a professional theatre director and acting teaching in Ireland

Peter Corry
Peter has worked as a performance coach for over 12 years, helping professionals in the entertainment industry, education and business to develop confidence and communicate more effectively with audiences. Previous clients include the Gaiety School of Acting, and Communicate – a communications company working at a senior level in Irish politics and industry. He is also a professional actor in theatre, television and film, and is currently studying Medicine at the University of Limerick in Ireland. He is excited to be working with Brian and the Esteve Foundation to improve the standard of scientific presentations in Spain and globally.
