IRB Barcelona 10th Anniversary Scientific Symposium and Alumni Reunion: Celebrating a decade of discovery in the biomedical sciences

26 Oct 2015

2015 marks the ten-year anniversary of the founding of IRB Barcelona. On Monday, October 26 we will celebrate a decade of discovery in the biomedical sciences with a special day-long scientific symposium, aimed at celebrating achievements in areas of IRB Barcelona research and looking forward to where the biomedical sciences are headed over the next ten years.

In the morning, internationally renowned speakers in fields related to IRB Barcelona science will come to discuss their latest research, together with selected alumni speakers who will present the projects they have been working on since leaving IRB Barcelona. In the afternoon, key figures in IRB Barcelona's history will discuss the contributions the institute has made to the research landscape in Barcelona and beyond, followed by a round table conversation with figures from leading European and North American research institutions on how to ensure excellence in European research. A final interdisciplinary session will bring together high-profile representatives from the worlds of science, cuisine, and advertising for a lively discussion on creativity and innovation in their respective sectors.

A special invitation for IRB Barcelona Alumni. As part of IRB Barcelona's 10th anniversary celebrations, we are excited to announce the launch the IRB Barcelona Alumni Network. The more than 800 former IRB Barcelona researchers and staff now at institutes across the world are cordially invited to take part in this special symposium and alumni reunion.

The activities will provide a valuable opportunity for our former researchers to discover and celebrate IRB Barcelona's research programmes, make professional connections within the community, hear leading speakers on critical issues, gain access to talent and services available to the alumni community, and explore the wider range of benefits of staying connected to IRB Barcelona. To give you a chance to catch up with your former colleagues, individual lab reunions will be held throughout the day, followed by a wine and cheese celebration to end the day.

The event will also welcome members of the local scientific community, political representatives, key supporters, collaborators and other figures in the history of IRB Barcelona.
