Results about: genomes
Scientists in the Multiscale Complex Genomics (MuG) Consortium are working on new cloud-based computational infrastructure to support and improve the existing genome analysis tools. The beta-version of the Virtual Research Environment (VRE) was presented for the first time in Cambridge in April. MuG is a Horizon 2020 project coordinated by IRB Barcelona Group Leader Modesto Orozco.
Croatian scientist Fran Supek is launching his Genome Data Science (aGENDAS) laboratory.
aGENDAS is starting this April and will promote the research in Big Data, an strategic area also for the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST).
With this new group, the Institute now hosts 24 laboratories and seven core facilities.
Structural biologists endorse the potential of their field to extract quality information from “big data”
International experts in structural biology, such as Nobel laureate Ada E. Yonath, and in massive genomic analysis, such as the bioinformatician Chris Sander—one of the fathers of biocomputation—, are gathering in Barcelona this week with the aim to identify synergies and throw light on the jumble of massive biological data currently available.
The Barcelona Biomed Conference organised by IRB Barcelona and the BBVA Foundation will be held from today 28 to 30 November at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans.
This afternoon, there will be an open debate on “Women in science”, chaired by Ada E. Yonath.
