The Montserrat School in Cornellà opens the 'Joan Guinovart' laboratory in the framework of the Tandem Schools project
The new school lab has come about from the Escuelas Tándem (Tandem Schools) project, which is supported by IRB Barcelona and the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation.
The Montserrat School and IRB Barcelona have just brought the Tandem Schools Project to a close. This educational initiative has applied science as a core theme to enhance the innovative activities, academic results, prestige, and social cohesion of the school.
Run and financed by the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation, the project is one of the first tandems between a primary school and a scientific institute.
This weekend the Ciutadella Park will be hosting this event, which will showcase 230 scientific activities aimed at the general public.
IRB Barcelona will be participating through two workshops and a micro-talk, related to microscopy, cancer research and ageing.
From 15 to 17 November, the first international ENABLE symposium—which is fully booked—will bring together 300 PhD students and postdocs from all around Europe.
ENABLE is the first scientific symposium organised by and for young scientists and it includes scientific talks, a Career day and outreach activities.
The European Union will finance four ENABLE symposia in various European cities up to 2020.
IRB Barcelona proposes activities targeted to a wide public audience during Science Week 2017.
The programme includes a visit by more than 100 school children to the centre, microtalks in pubs and debates on hot topics with well-known figures such as Andreu Mas-Colell and Isona Passola.
The activities offered by Science Week are included in the programme of the 1st ENABLE Symposium, aimed at young biomedical scientists, which will be held in Barcelona from 15 to 17 November.
On May 27-28, the Barcelona Science Festival will bring a hundred science activities to the Parc de la Ciutadella.
IRB Barcelona is to participate in the Festival by giving a talk on Network Medicine and holding two workshops for a wide range of public.
Last Saturday IRB Barcelona held its Open Day and received around 400 visitors.
Public of all ages visited the labs, participated in workshops and attended talks at the centre, which is located at the Barcelona Science Park.
