Fiesta de la Ciencia 2017: Un fin de semana de ciencia en Barcelona

Los días 27 y 28 de mayo, la Fiesta de la Ciencia de Barcelona reúne un centenar de actividades científicas en el Parc de la Ciutadella.

El IRB Barcelona participa en la undécima edición de la Fiesta, con una microcharla sobre la Medicina de Redes y dos talleres para el público general.

Este sábado, el IRB Barcelona celebra su Jornada de Puertas Abiertas, con cerca de 400 personas.

Público de todas las edades visita los laboratorios, participa en talleres y atiende a charlas divulgativas en las instalaciones del centro, en el Parque Científico de Barcelona.

“The ‘how’ is more important than the ‘what’. We have to teach children to exercise critical thinking”

Jordi Gaitan (Blanes, 1970) joined the ranks of the Tandem project, which IRB Barcelona  started last year with the Mare de Déu de Montserrat school in Cornellà. This project, implemented with the collaboration of the Catalunya – La Pedrera Foundation, aims to boost academic results in school through science and biomedicine. Jordi’s job is to advise the Tandem team about how to include new teaching techniques when designing the academic curriculum.

Muriel Arimon is the new IRB Barcelona’s new Public Engagement and Science Education Officer. “I think our outreach activities benefit not only society but also our young scientists. It is an opportunity for them to face a different challenge than those they experience in the lab, to learn how to communicate and to get a new perspective on how science is perceived,” she says.
