Core Facilities & Services
The biomedical research undertaken by groups at the IRB Barcelona is supported by an extensive range of core facilities that provide state-of-the-art technologies and scientific services, some of which are high throughput.
IRB Barcelona core facilities and services
- Protein Expression Core Facility. The Protein Expression Core Facility provides a range of ‘High Through-Put’ (HTP) services for the local academic scientific community.
- Mass Spectrometry Core Facility. The Mass Spectrometry Core Facility is equipped with high accuracy and high resolution mass spectrometers with new incorporated MS techniques.
- Mutant Mouse Core Facility. The Mutant Mouse Core Facility generates murine models of disease and development for researchers within IRB Barcelona and their collaborators.
- Functional Genomics Core Facility. The Functional Genomics Core Facility provides state-of-the-art tools for genomic research, including genome wide expression profiling, DNA copy number-, and SNP analysis.
- Bioinformatics / Biostatistics Unit. The mission of the Bioinformatics / Biostatistics Unit is to conduct collaborative research and provide consultation and quantitative research resources to all the IRB Barcelona research groups.
Other scientific services of IRB Barcelona
Researchers at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine have access to other services and facilities provided by the Barcelona Science Park (Parc Científic de Barcelona, PCB), where the IRB Barcelona laboratories are located, by the UB Scientific and Technical Services, most of which are also located also at the PCB, and finally, by the Biotechnology Platforms, all hosted by the PCB.
