Cayetano González obtained his Master in Sciences and his PhD degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain. After four years of postdoctoral work at Imperial College, London, Dr. González became Joint Principal Investigator of the CRC at the Dept. of Biochemistry, University of Dundee for four years, and later, in 1993, Group Leader at EMBL, Heidelberg (Germany) for nine years.

Since 2004 he has held an ICREA Research Professorship and leads the Cell Division group at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine – IRB Barcelona.
