Born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1962.

Graduate (M.Sc.) in Chemistry from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1985). PhD in Biochemistry from the same university (1990). Pre-Doctoral research fellow of the Spanish MEC. His Research activity is focused on the theoretical study of biological systems. Around 250 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals like Proc.Natl.Acad.Sci.USA, Chem.Rev., Chem.Soc.Rev., J.Am.Chem.Soc., J.Biol.Chem., J.Mol.Biol.,…

Among other awards, in 2000 he got the Distinción Investigadora de la Generalitat de Catalunya (Annual award of Science of the Catalan Science Ministry), as well as the FEBS Anniversary Prize of the Gesellschaft für Biochemie und Molekularbiologie in 2001.
