In 2020, a number of scientists at IRB Barcelona have been acknowledged through different awards. Here we highlight four of them:

Dr. Núria López Bigas, received the IX National 'Doctores Diz Pintado' Cancer Research Prize for her career path.  The jury highlighted the relevance and impact of López-Bigas´ work, which focuses on genomics and has wide applications in personalised medicine. The researcher is the first female scientist to be presented with this prize.

Dr. Antonio Zorzano was presented with the 2020 ICREA Academia Award by the Institució Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avançats (ICREA), after being awarded the same distinction in 2014. The recognition aims to contribute to the intensification of the research carried out by university professors who are in a fully active and expansive phase of their research careers.

Dr. Salvador Aznar-Benitah won the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for Life Sciences. This prize is presented to European researchers under the age of 45 who are recognised by the scientific community and who are carrying out particularly promising projects.

Dr. Manuel Serrano won the 48th Leopold Griffuel Award for fundamental cancer research, in recognition of his important contributions to the field of cell biology and, in particular, to understanding oncogenesis and cellular plasticity.
