New Labs Advance Cancer & Regeneration

IRB Barcelona has strengthened its research collaboration with the Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD) by creating the Pediatric Cancer Epigenetics Laboratory, led by Dr. Alexandra Avgustinova. The joint initiative will dissect epigenetic vulnerabilities in childhood tumours and channel the findings toward personalised therapies.

In parallel, the Institute has launched the Mitochondrial Biology & Tissue Regeneration Laboratory under Dr. Ana Victoria Lechuga-Vieco. Her group will explore how mitochondrial metabolism steers immune responses and tissue repair in ageing, cardiovascular disease and cancer, bolstering IRB Barcelona’s Aging & Metabolism Programme.
