Catalan radio station "Catalunya Ràdio" has covered warnings made by the scientific community in Catalonia about the effects of Donald Trump’s cuts to the US research budget. The broadcast  included Joan J. Guinovart's opinion, on the occasion of the March for Science celebrated on Saturday 22 April.

Joan J. Guinovart, director of IRB Barcelona says, "From a financial point of view, there are quite a lot of scientists who have research projects in collaboration with the US. They may see their budget cut".

Meanwhile, in response to the deep concern of scientists and citizens regarding the growing wave of policies in detriment of science and the erosion of the social image of science, tens of thousands of people marched for science in more than 600 cities on 6 continents.

The initiative in Barcelona was backed by many prominent figures in the political and scientific spheres of influence, including the President of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), Dr. Andreu Mas-Colell, and Joan J. Guinovart, among others.
