AECC Funds IRB Barcelona Cancer Research
The Asociación Contra el Cáncer has allocated more than €2.4 million to five competitive research projects at IRB Barcelona, including a major coordinated grant led by Dr. Roger Gomis focused on metastasis and therapeutic resistance. The project brings together complementary approaches to better understand how tumours spread and evolve under treatment pressure, with the aim of identifying new therapeutic opportunities against advanced cancer.
The funding call also supported projects led by Drs. Francesc Posas, Cristina Mayor-Ruiz, María Teresa Blasco, and Ana Domostegui. Together, these grants reinforce IRB Barcelona’s research on tumour progression, cancer cell vulnerabilities, and resistance mechanisms, strengthening the Institute’s efforts to translate fundamental discoveries into future therapeutic strategies.
