FERO Funds Breast Cancer Research
The FERO Foundation has awarded a competitive research grant to IRB Barcelona to support a project led by Dr. Ángel R. Nebreda focused on triple-negative breast cancer, one of the most aggressive and treatment-resistant forms of the disease. The funding supports interdisciplinary research aimed at understanding how tumour cells survive chemotherapy and acquire metastatic capacity.
The project uses advanced single-cell technologies and experimental models that closely replicate human tumours to track immune dynamics during disease progression. The work seeks to understand the mechanisms underlying therapy resistance and identify new therapeutic vulnerabilities that could improve treatment for patients with advanced breast cancer.
