“la Caixa” backs rare disease research
Scientific projects
“la Caixa” Foundation has backed research led by Dr. Maria Macias to develop new therapeutic strategies for Myhre syndrome, a rare, incurable genetic disease that affects children.
The funding will enable the advancement of translational research combining molecular biology and disease modelling to better characterize the mechanisms underlying the disease. This support strengthens efforts to translate basic discoveries into therapeutic approaches for patients with Myhre syndrome, for whom no curative treatments are currently available.
