Leading in strategy and culture in a research environment

The sessions will explore theories and test strategies that contribute to your individual leadership development. This is a practical and participative workshop.  You will work in small groups to apply the theory to your individual leadership challenges and create a professional development plan to apply new approaches.

BIST is organising a new edition of its programme Leadership in Action, designed by using VITAE’s framework, which will offer you the opportunity to focus on developing skills for successful self-management and development to progress in your professional career. The course is offered to postdoctoral researchers currently working at BIST research centres (CRGIBEC, ICFO, ICIQ, ICN2, IFAE, IRB Barcelona), but is also open to external postdoctoral community.

The aim of the Leadership in Action program is to develop leadership best practices whilst using your own strengths and style to:

  • Encourage team cohesion and collaboration
  • Develop techniques that support effective resource and task management
  • Create a culture of open, proactive communication and decision-making

Registration: Fill in the registration form here before 17 March. A confirmation email will be sent to all participants.

The course is aimed at post-doctoral researchers. Participants will receive access details prior the starting of the course.

Speakers

Caroline Broad (Broad Associates Ltd)

Caroline gained her twenty years’ experience facilitating teams and delivering skills training with a focus on developing the skills of career researchers and University staff in STEM.  

Caroline loves working with people who have a depth of knowledge and a passion for their work.  She starts with the assumption that everyone is naturally resourceful and capable and delivers value by developing an individual’s self-awareness, alongside an introduction to tools and theories that are directly applicable to their roles. Caroline is a certified practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Belbin Team Roles™, is a Mental Health First Aider, C-Me profiling and Resilience Tools consultant.

Caroline facilitates an Action for Happiness Happy Café in her town and delivers the Exploring What Matters course focusing on wellbeing and resilience.

She loves travelling in Europe in her campervan, Nerys.
