Abstract

Aberrant chromosomal content, or aneuploidy, is frequently associated with pathologies, such as developmental defects and cancer. Even gain of a single chromosome profoundly affects cellular physiology and disrupts proteostasis due to the overexpression of numerous proteins. By analyses of  model human aneuploid cells and data from cancer samples, we examine how the changes in chromosome copy numbers affect the dynamic proteostasis network, and what are the consequences for key cellular processes, such as mitochondrial metabolism and protein turnover.
