El lloc web de notícies búlgar Nauka Offnews, entre altres mitjans, s'ha fet ressò de l'estudi realitzat pels científics de l'IRB Barcelona sobre la síntesi de glicogen i nivells elevats de glicogen en ratolins.

Publicat a Cell Metabolism, aquest treball descobreix que la síntesi de glicogen no requereix d’una proteïna anomenada glicogenina i que nivells elevats de glicogen afecten el rendiment muscular en exercicis de resistència en ratolins.
