IRB Barcelona has received a donation of €4,462.30 from Medirest and Compass Group Spain, which will be used entirely to support and strengthen cancer research projects.
This donation is the result of two charitable initiatives carried out as part of their “Adiós a la Rutina” (“Goodbye to the Routine”) project, an initiative that aims to integrate socially impactful actions into their daily operations. The first of these initiatives took place on 4 February to mark World Cancer Day, and 100% of the proceeds from the sale of yogurt and fruit cups in its hospital cafeterias was donated, turning an everyday purchase into an act of solidarity.
This campaign was complemented by a second initiative carried out last October, coinciding with World Breast Cancer Awareness Day. In both initiatives, the participation and commitment of customers and staff were key to reaching the final donation amount, demonstrating how small collective contributions can generate a significant impact on scientific research.
Collaborations of this kind are essential for advancing new research projects, improving our understanding of cancer, and moving toward more effective treatments. Initiatives like this help strengthen the connection between science and society, allowing research to continue progressing in the fight against cancer and metastasis.
