What can you do to make yourself a more effective doctoral researcher and get the most out of your PhD?

Presentation

The program covers PhD project planning, effective working practices, working with others in the research environment, creativity for collaborative research, negotiation skills, motivation and getting feedback. Participants are placed in learning groups to work on a range of activities. From this you will gain awareness of your performance as an individual and in a team. You will use and develop skills that are essential for a researcher, such as communication, planning, time management, problem solving, conflict resolution, as well as building a greater self-awareness of your learning and working styles. Furthermore you will create good atmosphere to promote collaborative research among your peers from different scientific fields.

The ‘How to succeed in your PhD I’ course is an interactive programme organised in two days and it is compulsory to attend all sessions. This is because the sessions build on one another, and messages are frequently delivered across the sessions and days, rather than in discrete activities. There are two equivalent courses with 25 participants each. Both courses have the same content and you will find PhD students from all BIST research centres.

  • Course 1: 20-21 February
  • Course 2: 27-28 February

Venue: BIST (Carrer Comte d'Urgell, 187, Building 12, 08036 Barcelona)

Registration: fill in the registration form here

There are limited places. A confirmation email will be sent to all participants.

Please take into account that this course is a two day and interactive programme – and that it is compulsory to attend both days in full. If you are registered and finally cannot attend, please send us an e-mail  in order to give others the opportunity to participate.
