RNAi: Basic Biology to Clinical Impact will address the current status of the rapidly growing field of RNAi and non-coding RNAs. The control of translation and mRNA degradation is an important part of the regulation of gene expression. Small RNA molecules are effective modulators of gene expression. These small RNAs can be endogenous or exogenous micro RNAs (miRNAs) and short interfering RNAs (SiRNAs) and can affect mRNA degradation and translation making a strong impact on transcription rates.

The conference will be divided into five sessions including: “Classes of non-coding RNAs”, “Mechanism of RNAi”, “Biological roles of microRNAs”, “RNAi as a tool for target discovery and validation” and “RNAi and its potential for therapy”.

The conference will provide an interdisciplinary forum for researchers interested in gene silencing by RNA and its potential clinical applications as well as for researchers interested in the basic mechanisms of gene regulation mediated by RNA.

Barcelona BioMed Conferences bring together about 20 speakers, selected from among leading international researchers, in a highly focused think-tank atmosphere. An additional 40 participants, selected on the basis of their scientific experience, are invited to join. Registration is free. Final date for registration, 10th of November.

There is no registration fee but the number of participants is limited Those interested should fill out the registration form and attach a short CV with five relevant publications

IRB Barcelona headquarters and labs are located at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB, Parc Científic de Barcelona). The BARCELONA BIOMED CONFERENCE in RNAi: Basic Biology to Clinical Impact will be held in the  Fèlix Serratosa Hall at the Park.
