The jury recognizes IRB Barcelona’s adjunct director for his institutional leadership, scientific rigour, and work ethic

The Lluís Carulla Foundation has awarded the 36th Lluís Carulla Prize of Honour, for the year 2012, to IRB Barcelona adjunct director, Joan Massagué, a world leader in research on cancer, cell regulation and the mechanisms of metastasis. The jury paid tribute to “his institutional leadership, scientific rigour and work ethic.”

The Lluís Carulla Honour Award, celebrated since 1977 and with a value of €50,000 euros, is awarded to people or organizations, who through their scientific, cultural or civic activities, have helped to strengthen awareness of the Catalan community and the sense of belonging to the culture of Catalan-speaking regions.

The award ceremony will take place on Monday, November 12, at 7pm in the Saló de Cent of Barcelona’s City Hall. Mayor Xavier Trias will preside.
