Newspapers "La Vanguardia", "El Punt Avui", and other local media, have reported on the BIST Founding Conference, the first international scientific meeting organised by the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, on March 31.

The event brought together 300 participants, including leading scientific experts from Catalonia and the rest of the world to discuss strategic research lines (chemical biology, graphene, big data and microscopy), explore collaboration, and celebrate the founding of BIST. The five winning proposals of the first BIST Ignite call, which include two IRB Barcelona's projects, were also announced.

Dr. Miquel A. Pericàs, Director of BIST and the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) highlighted BIST’s position in terms of a weighted fractional count on the Nature Index. BIST ranks among the top 25 research institutions in Europe and among the top 100 in the world.
