In an article published in La Vanguardia newspaper, the IRB Barcelona director , Joan J. Guinovart, examines the main characteristics that have made Barça European Champion and advocates application of the same criteria to ensure the success of the BioRegion of Catalonia. Created in 2005 by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) and University of Barcelona, IRB Barcelona is a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence, a seal that was awarded in 2011.
