Twenty-two companies and four institutes form the Catalan delegation organised by Biocat for the San Diego gathering.

IRB Barcelona is one of four institututions that, together with 22 companies, forms the Catalan delegation at the BIO San Diego 2014, the biggest biotech convention worldwide that has been taking place for the last 20 years. This year’s event entitled “Connect, Partner, Innovate” is being held in San Diego (California) between 23 and 26 June. IRB Barcelona will be part of the stand devoted to the BioRegion of Catalonia, an organisation that will occupy 223 m2 of the Spanish Pavilion.

The magnitude of the BIO International Convention and the profile of the participants guarantee that the companies and research organisations present will be provided with multiple opportunities for business and collaboration.

IRB Barcelona seeks to strengthen ties with key organisations in the sector, in addition to generating new opportunities for collaboration. Among the companies participating in this event is the biotech enterprise Iproteos, a spin-off of IRB Barcelona, set up in 2011 by Teresa Tarragó and Ernest Giralt, both researchers at the institute. Iproteos is devoted to the search for new therapeutic agents for the treatment of diseases of the central nervous system.

This is the fifth consecutive year that IRB Barcelona is participating in the BIO International Convention; a clear sign that the institute is committed to the market transfer of innovation and discoveries made in its 23 labs and six scientific platforms.
