Research into the importance of Mitofusin 2 in the regulation of muscle aging in mice has received several mentions in national and international media. Led by Antonio Zorzano, coordinator of the Molecular Medicine programme at IRB Barcelona and published in the EMBO Journal, the study explains how the absence of this protein causes the accumulation of poor quality mitochondria in muscle, thereby accelerating its aging.
