The programme Eth Maitin d’Aran, broadcasted by Catalunya Ràdio, has interviewed Meritxell Teixidó, research associate with the Design, Synthesis and Peptide and Protein Structure Lab at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. TVE, the local TV channel Betevé and the newspaper La Vanguardia, among other media, have echoed on news about an escape room, “The #MetastasisChallenge against the clock”, organised by IRB Barcelona. In this game, participants have to solve a scientific puzzle in a real research lab. The proceeds from this activity will go to the #MetastasisChallenge, IRB Barcelona’s fundraising campaign in support of biomedical research into this disease.

<p>Ayse Güll Süter, Artist in Residence at IRB Barcelona</p>

The newspapers Ara and La Vanguardia have published an article on the exhibition "Art made of science. Microspheres" by Ayse Gül Süter, Artist in Residence from IRB Barcelona, which is being shown in the old operating theatre of the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site. Gül Süter’s work is a particular choreography of diseased and healthy cells that has been inspired from the observation of tissues of the liver, eyes, skin and lungs.

La Vanguardia has published an article about the exhibition "Art Made of Science-Microspheres" by Ayse Gül Süter, Artist in Residence at IRB Barcelona, which explores the visual differences between healthy and diseased tissues. The exhibition opened on February 12 at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site and can be visited until March 12.

The Eldiario.es portal has published an article on the "100tífiques" initiative, led by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation, the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Barcelona Education Consortium, and the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), of which IRB Barcelona forms part. In the article, they quoted Muriel Arimon, Public Engagement and Science Education Officer of the centre, who upholds that "we can all do science".

El Punt Avui, La Vanguardia, Antena 3, EFE and El Diario Vasco, among other media, have published articles about the recent research led by IRB Barcelona and CNAG-CRG, which highlights that skin ages because its cells “forget” their function and stop secreting collagens and other proteins. The study has been published in the journal Cell and could have therapeutic applications aiming to help aged skin to form scar tissue faster and more efficiently after damage or after an operation.

The websites of Segre and Lleida have published an article on the latest Vi per Vida event, held last Sunday at "Les Obagues" ecocentre in Juneda. Organised by the sommelier Xavier Ayala and the Tastavins Juneda Association, this initiative aims to raise funds for cancer research and metastasis carried out at IRB Barcelona.

TV3 has reported on the campaign "Legado Solidario", an initiative involving 25 organisations, among them IRB Barcelona. In the report, Francesc Posas, director of the institute, talks about the bequest of 1.5 € million the centre received last year to support cancer research and metastasis.

La Razón, TV3, La Sexta, Men's Health and New Atlas, among other local and international media, have published an article about the study done at IRB Barcelona and Vrije Universiteiti Brussel. The study has identified camelid nanobodies able to block EGF, a protein that is abundant in tumour cells and that helps them to proliferate.
