Thanks to the generous donations of many individuals, organisations and companies to IRB Barcelona over the last three years, the Institute has launched the first call of the IRB Barcelona Philanthropy Fund. Two biomedical research projects will be funded with 40,000 euros. One of the projects selected will be in the field of oncology, to accommodate all donations made specifically for cancer and metastasis research.
The IRB Barcelona Philanthropy Fund seeks to support the development of new projects and those already underway by funding specific activities that provide added and demonstrable value to the research lines pursued by the scientists. The proposal submitted will be evaluated by an external committee, which, in addition to the quality of the science, will take into account the potential interest of the project for society. In this regard, recipients of the grant have a unique opportunity to reflect on how their research responds to the concerns of society.
This funding is an example of how society is aware of the importance of biomedical research. It is a reflection of the growing culture of philanthropy and giving in our country, a practice that IRB Barcelona encourages through a wide range of activities to engage with the public.
Social engagement is essential for scientific progress. IRB Barcelona wishes to thank all of our supporters. We appreciate the trust you place in us.
