Abstract:

The role of senescent cells in aging and age-related pathologies is well established. Nonetheless, senescent cells exhibit remarkable - functional and molecular - heterogeneity, which limits the implementation of senescence-targeted therapies. In the lab, we are specifically interested in resolving the complexity of the senescent phenotype, aiming to shed light on the vulnerabilities that characterise pathologically meaningful senescent cells. Our current work focuses on identifying metabolic addictions of senescent cells, with particular emphasis on the role of arginine metabolism in the establishment and maintenance of the senescent state.
