The leading medical news portal Medical News Today gives voice to the study of the group headed by ICREA researcher Salvador Aznar Benitah. The study in question refutes the commonly held belief that aging is associated with the loss of the circadian rhythm of stem cells by proving that the daily pattern of gene activity is not lost but rather reprogrammed with new functions. In this regard, these changes in functionality are observed to be delayed in mouse models on low-calorie diets.
