The ninth edition of this event covers 120 activities, including conferences, exhibitions, workshops, and interactive experiments.

In IRB Barcelona’s workshop this Saturday, members of the public will have the opportunity to discover the secrets of DNA.

This Saturday (25 April), the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) invites families to delve into the secrets of genetics in order to unravel the mysteries of DNA through a workshop called "Construeix el teu propi animal imaginari" (Create your own imaginary animal). This workshop forms part of the activities organised in NOVUM, the “Festival de la Ciència, la Innovació i la Tecnologia”, which is being held in Barcelona until 30 April.

Designed for children from 8 years old upwards, “Create your own imaginary animal” seeks to introduce kids to genetics through a simple game in which they can combine pieces of DNA to create a unique organism.

IRB Barcelona researchers Begoña Cánovas, Ana Igea, Delia Ricolo and Lada Murcia, working in the Oncology and Cellular and Developmental Biology Programmes, will be in the Newton Tent in the Plaça de les Glòries, from 16:00 to 20:00.

IRB Barcelona has participated in the last nine editions of the “Festival de la Ciència de Barcelona”, a traditional activity in the programme of science outreach initiatives in the city.
