• Dr. Alejo Rodríguez-Fraticelli, group leader at IRB Barcelona, has been selected to join the prestigious EMBO Young Investigator Programme.
• The new intake brings together 28 young group leaders from top international institutions.
• The programme provides funding, mentoring, advanced training, and access to an international network of more than 800 young scientists.
EMBO today announced the addition of 28 new researchers to the EMBO Young Investigator Programme. This initiative supports group leaders in the crucial first years of scientific independence and is designed to foster international networking and research excellence.
Among those selected is Dr. Alejo Rodríguez-Fraticelli, head of the Quantitative Stem Cell Dynamics Laboratory at IRB Barcelona, who has been named EMBO Young Investigator in recognition of his outstanding scientific track record and the potential of his research into the individual variability of stem cells and its impact on tissue development and disease. With this distinction, he joins a renowned network that brings together more than 800 scientists in cutting-edge fields of biomedicine.
“Being part of this programme is an extraordinary opportunity. It broadens our scientific network and provides us with new resources to accelerate our research. For me and my team, this is a significant recognition of our hard work and provides great motivation to keep pushing the limits of what we know,” says Dr. Alejo Rodríguez-Fraticelli, ICREA research professor at IRB Barcelona.
“EMBO is delighted to welcome the new Young Investigators. Their outstanding achievements demonstrate the excellence and ambition that will drive the progress of the life sciences. We are pleased to support these young group leaders in the next steps of their careers, and we eagerly look forward to their discoveries and their contributions to our community,” states Dr. Fiona Watt, director of EMBO.
The researchers selected for the EMBO Young Investigator Programme enjoy advanced training and mentoring, as well access to the facilities of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg. The programme includes initial economic support of 15,000 euros, with the possibility of requesting up to 10,000 euros additional euros each year, and offers multiple opportunities for networking, scientific meetings, and active participation in a highly dynamic international community. It seeks to boost emerging scientific careers, promote international collaboration and foster environments of research excellence.
