The medicine of the future starts here. Visit the Institute's proposal

On Tuesday 1 December, IRB Barcelona will be participating in #GivingTuesday, a global movement founded four years ago in New York that seeks to promote fundraising and that has reached Spain this year. One of the main goals of #GivingTuesday in Spain is to increase donations, which currently involve 19% of the population in contrast to 40% in the rest of the European Union, according to the local organisers.

The medicine of the future starts here

IRB Barcelona is participating in this initiative in order to share and inform the public about its mission, namely to conduct innovative research to improve people’s quality of life. The 23 laboratories of the centre work towards advancing research into the molecular bases of cancer and metastasis, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and many other disorders—some of which are rare diseases. The breakthroughs made by the centre will contribute to designing the medicine of the future, as all medical advances have their beginnings in basic research laboratories in reference centres like IRB Barcelona.
