The Diario de Sevilla publishes an interview with Joan J. Guinovart, director of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona). The scientist explains that scientific research needs not only more funding but also greater flexibility with respect to the regulations governing it and greater support from society. In addition, he comments on applying science to tackle the problems associated with aging, such as Alzheimer’s disease, before the public health system becomes overburden by the cost.
