The newspaper “El País” devotes a feature to a recent study on metastatic breast cancer headed by Toni Celià-Terrassa, associate researcher at Princeton University, and includes the opinion of Roger Gomis, ICREA researcher and group leader of the Growth Control and Cancer Metastasis Lab at IRB Barcelona.

Published in Nature Cell Biology, the study identifies the RNA molecule that shields breast cancer stem cells from the immune system.

Roger Gomis stresses that the work contributes "fundamental knowledge", but adds that translating it into possible short-term treatments will be challenging.
